Japan patent agency's AI report shows autonomous AI-generated inventions, patents still limited

( April 22, 2024, 03:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A report on the impact of generative artificial intelligence on patents by the Japan Patent Office shows that use of AI in new inventions are still limited, and no immediate changes to patent rules or laws are necessary. The report, commissioned to Deloitte Tohmatsu Financial Advisory by the JPO, found that businesses and experts both in Japan and abroad were cautious about introducing changes to existing patent frameworks at the moment, given human involvement was still required, and autonomous AI inventions were still nonexistent.
