Gebr. Knauf KG fined for altering merger terms without Cofece's authorization in Mexico

Knauf KG, a construction materials and gypsum board manufacturer, and two individuals have been fined 1.5 million Mexican pesos ($89,658) for deviating from merger terms originally approved by the Mexican competition authority. The Federal Economic Competition Commission, or Cofece, said the parties introduced a non-compete clause into the merger agreement that was not disclosed during the initial authorization process, preventing the antitrust agency from properly evaluating the deal's potential effects on the market and consumers.Cofece press release follows in Spanish....
