BYD clarifies car warranty manual to allow repairs by non-authorized providers in Hong Kong

( October 3, 2024, 09:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's Competition Commission today said Chinese electric-vehicle maker BYD has amended its car warranty manual to clarify that maintenance and repairs, including on the traction battery, can be done by non-authorized service providers without affecting the warranties. The revisions came after the regulator raised concerns that ambiguous terms regarding the lifetime warranty of the traction battery might mislead car owners into thinking that they must use authorized maintenance and repair services, the commission said in a statement.
