Telecom data sharing with UK spy agencies limited following court ruling

The High Court of England and Wales ruled in a challenge to the Investigatory Powers Act brought by charity Liberty that the intelligence services MI5, MI6 and GCHQ should not have the power to get "detailed information" on individuals from telecom companies as part of criminal investigations, without first getting prior independent approval that the information gathering is "necessary and proportionate."
