Police Service Northern Ireland fined GBP750,000 for data breach that exposed whole staff

( October 2, 2024, 23:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Northern Ireland's police force has had a provisional fine of 750,000 pounds ($950,000) for a major 2023 breach affecting more than 9,500 officers and staff confirmed after the UK Information Commissioner's Office rejected its attempts to reduce the penalty. Commissioner John Edwards said he could not "think of a clearer example to prove how critical it is to keep personal information safe." The breach ended up "exposing the personal information of its entire workforce," the ICO said.Statement follows....
