In CoComelon copyright case, Moonbug Entertainment assigned payments from Apple, YouTube, others
By Melissa Ritti ( October 1, 2024, 16:12 GMT | Insight) -- Third-party payments from streaming services to BabyBus (Fujian) Network Technology Co. will be assigned to Moonbug Entertainment, owner of the registered copyrights to the CoComelon character “JJ.” Moonbug, which was awarded more than $17 million by jurors in a July 2023 infringement trial, said it hasn’t received a dime from the defendant. BabyBus was accused by Moonbug of diverting income to a wholly owned subsidiary to avoid satisfying a final judgment in the case.Moonbug Entertainment is entitled to payments still being made to adjudicated copyright infringer BabyBus (Fujian) Network Technology Co., which was ordered to pay $17.7 million to the plaintiff, creator of the CoComelon children’s series....
