EU copyright overhaul talks need political guidance, Estonia says

( December 14, 2017, 11:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: European governments amending a draft overhaul of the EU's copyright legislation have achieved “significant progress” on most of the provisions in the proposed directive, the Estonian government has said. But technical discussions on two parts of the bill require political advice, said Estonia, which is leading negotiations on behalf of national governments as the holder of the EU's rotating presidency until the end of the year. These provisions would oblige some online platforms to monitor content for copyright violations and give newspapers more bargaining power over news aggregators.Full document is linked below....
