Brazil competition agency settles six probes

( July 28, 2016, 14:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Brazilian competition agency settled six probes yesterday during its Tribunal session. Magazine publisher Ediouro Publicações has agreed to pay 1.69 million reais ($513,855) to close a probe into its anticompetitive practices in the hobby magazine market. Also, two individuals settled with CADE a probe into an alleged cartel in the market for transmission and distribution of electric energy in Brazil. Separately, clutch-facings supplier Schaeffler Friction Products, formerly known as Raybestos, has agreed to pay 699,216 reais ($214,213) to settle a cartel probe in Brazil. Additionally, Hitachi AIC, NEC Tokin and Rubycon have agreed to pay more than one million reais ($310,000) to close an investigation over their participation in an alleged global cartel in the market for electrolytic capacitors. Two former directors of NEC Tokin also joined the settlement, agreeing to pay 60,000 reais ($18,300) each.OJ statement follows in Portuguese....
