( July 24, 2024, 10:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a complaint filed in the Business Litigation Session of the Massachusetts Superior Court, HP accuses Access Advance of engaging in an “unlawful scheme to extract excessive royalties” for a license to patents considered essential for practicing the High Efficiency Video Coding, or HEVC, standard. HP maintains it is prepared to accept a reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or RAND, license to AA’s standard essential patents, or SEPs, but that AA has refused to offer it a license on RAND terms.
