Senate confirms Baucus as ambassador to China

( February 6, 2014, 20:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Senate on Thursday unanimously confirmed Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus as the new US ambassador to China, removing a key proponent of Trade Promotion Authority from Congress before any vote on TPA. The Montana senator was the only Democratic Party sponsor of TPA legislation, joining with two Republicans — Representative Dave Camp, a Michigan Republican and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, the Senate Finance Committee's ranking Republican.
