California AI safety bill should be signed, actors, filmmakers, music artists tell governor

Gavin Newsom to sign SB 1047, a bill that would require developers of advanced artificial intelligence models to have safety measures in place to prevent catastrophes.  The bill could hold developers liable if AI models they directly control cause harm or imminent threat to public safety. "We fully believe in the dazzling potential of AI to be used for good," they said. "But we must also be realistic about the risks.
