Lava to appeal Indian court ruling in favor of Ericsson in SEP dispute

The Delhi High Court acknowledged that Ericsson was entitled to receive damages for the loss of royalty or license fees had the Indian smartphone manufacturer executed a FRAND license agreement. The court ordered Lava to pay the Swedish multinational 2.44 billion rupees ($29.2 million) in damages together with 5 percent interest for infringing on the telecom major's 2G and 3G patents. Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava International intends to appeal the high court ruling that awarded damages to Swedish telecom giant Ericsson over the infringement of Standard Essential Patents, or SEPs. ...
