Speaking yesterday, Ebrahim Patel commended AB InBev for agreeing to measures to ease public interest and competition concerns surrounding the deal. He cited the beermaker’​s openness to negotiating with the government as an example to other companies. AB InBev’​s package will include the investment of 1 billion rand ($69 million) to support small-holder farmers and local manufacturing. There will be no involuntary job cuts in South Africa and the merged entity will base its African head office in Johannesburg.
