Uber says privacy and constitutional protections should block mandatory disclosure of trip data

( August 19, 2019, 21:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Uber Technologies said in a filing to the California Public Utilities Commission that, because of privacy and competition concerns, it should not be required by the city of San Francisco to turn over detailed data about trips booked by its customers. "Not only does this use case potentially trigger a regulatory takings violation under the Fifth Amendment, but deep ethical concerns are presented when a public agency permits proprietary data generated by a private company to be commercialized by others without any regard to users’ privacy," Uber said in the filing, which was made public today.See attached Uber filing....
