EFF, EPIC, others back Wikipedia's challenge to NSA Internet surveillance

( July 8, 2020, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Electronic Frontier Foundation, Electronic Privacy Information Center, and other organizations told a US appeals court that the Wikipedia Foundation should be allowed to bring a challenge to the US National Security Agency’s surveillance of ‘upstream’ Internet communications. “The avenues for judicial review of [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] surveillance that exist outside of civil litigation—namely, proceedings before the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] and criminal prosecutions— are unreliable and are not functioning as Congress intended. Access to the courts through civil litigation is thus a critical safeguard for the vindication of constitutional rights implicated by foreign intelligence surveillance,” they argued.See document below. ...
