Vizio appeal to Ninth Circuit blocked by judge

( October 13, 2017, 04:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Internet-connected TV-maker Vizio, a federal judge in California said, can't appeal her denial of Vizio's motion to dismiss claims that the company violated the Video Privacy Protection Act through its collection and sharing of consumers' TV-watching history. A review by the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit would not advance the case, said US District Judge Josephine Staton. "This Court did not hold that Vizio’s collection and disclosure practices violate the Video Privacy Protection Act or even that a reasonable jury could find as much; all the Court did was open the door to discovery on these highly fact-dependent issues involving intricate technologies," Staton wrote. Please see attached order....
