Uniper's 34.5 billion euro bailout approved by EU regulator subject to asset sales, business changes

( December 20, 2022, 21:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A German plan to recapitalize Uniper, the largest gas provider in the country and one of the main gas traders in Europe, with funds worth up to 34.5 billion euros was approved today by the EU's state aid regulator. The company has been hit hard by the major disruption of gas supplies into the EU following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Uniper will have to sell power plants in Germany and Hungary, as well as certain international businesses, and shorten long-term supply contracts, under conditions imposed by the European Commission.The statement from the European Commission is attached....
