​China’s Internet regulator publishes rules on handling online news service providers

( April 28, 2015, 05:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Cyberspace Administration of China on Tuesday published rules on how to conduct formal inquiries into Internet news service providers regarding illegal practices they may be engaged in. The rules were introduced following some trial interviews conducted by the administration and its local bureaus, which then led to the correction of illegal pracitces. According to the rules, online news portals will be summoned for interviews if they are engaged in practices such as a failure to handle complaints in a timely manner, the dissemination of illegal information, seeking profits in unfair ways, and a lack of solid content management and cyber security systems.The full statement follows:...
