Appeals court sides with Competition Bureau in TREB appeal

( February 3, 2014, 23:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A three-member panel of Canada's Federal Court of Appeal has determined that the Canadian Competition Tribunal erred in dismissing the Commissioner of Competition's application in a case involving the Toronto Real Estate Board. The Commissioner argued that TREB prevented its members and others from competing effectively through Internet-based real estate brokerages in violation of competition laws. The court granted the bureau’s appeal, saying that even though TREB doesn't compete directly with its members, the board's activities were anticompetitive.See document below....
