Singapore to expand oversight of cybersecurity law beyond critical information infrastructure

( April 3, 2024, 07:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Proposed amendments to Singapore's 2018 cybersecurity law will expand its oversight beyond critical information infrastructure, or CII, to include "systems of temporary cybersecurity concern," such as those used to support the distribution of critical vaccines during a pandemic. It also creates two new classes of regulated entities subject to light-touch treatment: entities of special cybersecurity interest, such as autonomous universities, and foundational digital infrastructure, such as cloud service providers and data centers. The bill tabled in parliament today will hold CII owners responsible for cybersecurity resilience, while requiring digital infrastructure service providers to comply with cybersecurity standards and report incidents to regulators.   The statement follows: ...
