China's standards-setting body issues guidelines on identifying sensitive personal data

( September 20, 2024, 00:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: TC260, China's national standard-setting body for cybersecurity, has recently issued guidelines on identifying sensitive personal information, which clarify the principle of identification, seven common categories of sensitive personal information and typical examples related to biometric data, healthcare information, financial accounts, among others. Beyond the common categories, identity card photos, sexual orientation, precise positioning information and credit information are all considered "sensitive" personal information.
