Federal court order Caixa Economica Federal to stop tied-sales

( February 3, 2014, 10:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Public prosecutors in Porto Alegre have won a court case against bank Caixa Economica Federal over tied sales. The court ordered the bank to stop tying the sales of financial products or it may face fines.  The Federal Prosecutors Office in Ceara was the first to crack down on clients being forced to buy other products or services when applying for mortgages with the bank. The bank is expected to compensate any clients who were affected by this practice since 2005. Tied sales is forbidden under Brazil´s consumer laws.  Read the statement below in Portuguese:...
