Cleveland-Cliffs as buyer for US Steel could prompt more antitrust issues than Nippon Steel, carmakers say

( March 29, 2024, 23:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: If Cleveland-Cliffs proposed to buy US Steel, the acquisition would deserve "at least the same or more antitrust scrutiny" as the Nippon Steel deal gets, according to a letter from a trade group for carmakers to the White House and antitrust agencies. "A consolidation of the two companies would also place 65 to 90 percent of steel used in vehicles under the control of a single company," said the head of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. See letter below....
