Japan's Pokémon Company wins $15 million copyright-infringement case against Chinese game app operators

( September 13, 2024, 02:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's The Pokémon Company issued a statement on Sept. 13 saying it had won a copyright infringement case on July 12 in the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court against Guangzhou Maichi Network Technology, awarding the Japanese company 107 million yuan ($15 million) in damages. The court also found partial joint liability to be borne by Shenzhen Asikade Information Technology, Shenzhen Zhishanghudong Technology and Khorgos Fangchi Network Technology. The Chinese companies are operators of the game app "Pocket Monster: Remake." Guangzhou Maichi and Khorgos Fangchi have filed appeals against the court’s ruling, Pokémon said. Statement follows:...
