Australian government-led inquiry endorses mandatory notification of mergers

( March 27, 2024, 00:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Companies looking to do deals in Australia may soon be required to formally notify them to the country’s competition watchdog, after a government-led inquiry recommended the creation of a system of mandatory pre-merger notification. In the final report of an inquiry economic dynamism and competition, the Australian parliament’s Standing Committee on Economics made 44 competition-policy recommendations in areas such as merger law, airport landing slot management and financial services regulation.
