​Merck KGaA agrees to buy Versum for $53 a share; Entegris deal cancelled

( April 12, 2019, 13:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Germany's Merck KGaA has agreed to buy US semiconductor materials maker Versum Materials for $53 a share in cash. Versum has meanwhile terminated its plan to merge with US rival Entegris. Merck and Versum said in a joint press release that they expected to close the deal in the second half of the year, and that the US antitrust “waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 . . .  has already expired.”Statement follows....
