DuckDuckGo says structural remedy in Google search monopoly case needs to be paired with other remedies

( September 13, 2024, 13:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DuckDuckGo Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Weinberg said the search engine is not opposed to structural remedies in the US government's search monopolization lawsuit against Google, but they would need to be paired with additional interventions. Structural changes to Google are not a replacement for or fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory access to search results and click and query data together with a ban on Google-self preferencing and a restriction on exclusive contracts. "And we can envision some scenarios where a particular structural remedy could be more harmful to us than helpful," Weinberg said. See attached document...
