Romanian watchdog fines Avenir Telecom, Euronet Services, LPF; opens new probe into football league

( January 26, 2015, 10:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Romanian competition authority has fined Avenir Telecom, Euronet Services and the Professional Football League, known as LPF, for breaking antitrust commitments. In 2012, the regulator ended a probe into anticompetitive agreements between Orange, Vodafone and Cosmote and their distributors of mobile-phone prepay products after the companies agreed to conclude contracts promoting competition. Avenir Telecom and Euronet failed to change their contracts with sub-distributors of prepay products, and LPF failed to sell TV rights in a non-discriminatory way, the regulator found.
