Three Thai firms make top 25 in Transparency Int'l emerging markets ranking

( July 14, 2016, 04:24 GMT | Insight) -- Three Thai companies have ranked in the top 25 in Transparency International’s ranking of 100 multinational firms in 15 emerging countries, the Bangkok Post reports. Three Thai companies have ranked in the top 25 in Transparency International’s ranking of 100 multinational firms in 15 emerging countries, the Bangkok Post reports. Indorama Ventures, Thai Union Group and PTT placed 20th, 21st and 22nd with scores of 5.6, 5.5 and 5.4 out of 10, respectively. Food conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group, under the helm of Thailand’s richest man, Dhanin Chearavanont, ranked a low 93rd. Assessments were based on corporate anticorruption measures and disclosures of key financial information, structures and holdings. The 100 companies scored just 3.4 on average, indicating a low overall standard, but the report found regulation to be effective in enhancing transparency, citing a marked improvement in India following the implementation of the Companies Act.   ...
