Australian government establishes national framework for use of AI

( June 21, 2024, 05:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A nationally consistent approach to safe and ethical use of artificial intelligence was agreed upon by the federal and state government, Australian finance minister has said. In a statement today, Australia’s Finance Minister Katy Gallagher said that Data and Digital Ministers have agreed that rights, wellbeing, and interests of people should be put first whenever a jurisdiction considers using AI in policy and service delivery. All levels across the government will align their assurance of AI use to this framework, which sets a nationally consistent approach based on Australia’s AI Ethics Principles.
