Apple, Google market power a key focus of UK watchdog's mobile browsers and cloud gaming investigation

( December 13, 2022, 12:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple and Google will be probed to see if they have "unilateral market power which is a source of competitive harm, and whether they are protecting this in anticompetitive ways," the UK's competition regulator has said in an issues statement setting out the scope of its market investigation into mobile browsers and cloud gaming services. The CMA will also investigate whether Google and Apple are using their market power to weaken competition in the "downstream" supply of mobile browers and browser search engines, and the distribution of cloud gaming services.
