Terror-content bill position issued by EU lawmakers

( April 11, 2019, 10:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Internet platforms would have one hour to take down terrorist content from the moment they receive a removal order, after a committee of European lawmakers adopted its stance on the bill, which was first put forward by the European Commission in September. Companies missing the target could be fined up to 4 percent of their global sales under the legislation, according to the text agreed by the civil-liberties committee. The European Parliament as a whole will vote on the draft law in next week’s plenary session, which will pave the way for endgame talks with the commission and national governments. The document is attached....
