Amazon Japan's new assessments of seller accounts helped to reduce account closures, company tells METI

( September 11, 2024, 02:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Amazon Japan said today that a new mechanism has improved transparency about account soundness and has helped a higher proportion of third-party sellers avoid account closures, in a presentation to the industry ministry, which is monitoring large platform-operators' compliance with Japan’s platform-to-business law. When a seller violates laws or Amazon's internal rules by items on sales, the seller's account-soundness status moves from green to yellow, and then red, the company said. The e-commerce giant also told the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry that it had improved its accountability regarding fee structures by disclosing guidelines on handling fee categories in May.
