During today's hearing with METI's monitoring panel, under a Japanese law regulating large platforms operators' treatment of business users, the company said that it is tightening the verification of advertisers' identities through phone contacts and other methods. During a campaign in April, for instance, Meta deleted 1 million ads and 5,000 Facebook accounts for their involvements with ads using the images of Japanese celebrities without their permission.
