American Petroleum Institute claims $83 million loss from unauthorized publication of industry standards

The lawsuit comes just weeks after the American Society for Testing and Materials and others settled a decade-long copyright case against Public.Resource.Org over the online publication of standards which, like APIs, are incorporated into law.The American Petroleum Institute says its standards, specifications, technical reports and recommended practices are copyrightable and willfully infringed by users of Scribd....
