Apple accused of monopolizing smartphone markets by US DOJ, states

( March 21, 2024, 14:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple illegally maintains a monopoly over smartphones by selectively imposing contractual restrictions on, and withholding critical access points from, developers, according to a complaint filed by the US Department of Justice and 16* attorneys general. They claimed that Apple undermines apps, products, and services that would otherwise make users less reliant on the iPhone, promote interoperability, and lower costs for consumers and developers. *Corrected on March 21, 2024 at 15:45 GMT: A previous version incorrectly said 17 attorneys general joined as plaintiffs.
