Sale of Electra’s water-filter business blocked by Israeli antitrust watchdog

( March 31, 2016, 16:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Israel’s Antitrust Authority has blocked the sale of Electra Consumer Products’ water filtration business Electra Bar to mineral-water company Mey Eden. Under the proposed deal, Electra Consumer Products won’t sell, manufacture, market or distribute water-filtration devices for four years, but would provide support and maintenance services to existing customers for 12 months. Electra is focusing on its electrical retail and air-conditioning businesses. But the watchdog opposed the deal as it would result in the loss of a main competitor in the market. The companies have 30 days to appeal the decision.Full statement follows in Hebrew....
