US Soccer, MLS ask judge to exclude evidence unrelated to North American Soccer League's remaining antitrust claim

( August 20, 2024, 23:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Soccer Federation and Major League Soccer asked a US judge to exclude all evidence unrelated to plaintiff North American Soccer League's remaining claim accusing them of conspiring to misapply US Soccer's standards to NASL. They argue that because the court granted summary judgment against NASL's claim alleging that the standards themselves are anticompetitive, evidence relating to that claim is irrelevant and should be excluded. They also argue that evidence from before NASL existed regarding how the standards were adopted and applied, and how MLS applied for and received a sanction for a Division 1 soccer league almost 30 years ago is irrelevant and should also be excluded.
