Acer, Lenovo sued in US over patents General Video calls essential to source-to-sink port, signaling interface display standards

By Melissa Ritti ( September 3, 2024, 16:51 GMT | Insight) -- In separate complaints filed Friday, General Video accused Acer and Lenovo of infringing six patents the plaintiff says are essential to the embedded Display Port, or eDP, and Display Port, or DP, standards. According to General Video, each of the accused laptops, desktop computers, monitors and video/graphics cards are marketed by the defendants as having a standards-compliant connectivity port. The eDP standard is a companion to the DP standard promulgated by the Video Electronics Standards Association — of which Acer and Lenovo are both corporate members and partners.Acer and Lenovo were hit with near-identical complaints on Friday by General Video in the Eastern District of Texas....
