​SAIC rules commercial banks in Jiangsu engaged in unfair competition over mortgage loans

( April 8, 2015, 06:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce Wednesday publicized a case in which commercial banks in Jiangsu Province were considered in violation of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law by imposing unfair conditions on consumers over real estate purchases. The banks restricted competition by requiring consumers, in purchasing properties, to apply for mortgage loans from banks designated by real estate developers and passing certain registration fees on to the consumers. SAIC disputed the banks’ argument that the behavior of financial institutions doesn't fall within the jurisdiction of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law and said the branches of SAIC are justified in their supervision of anti-competitive behavior of such institutions.The full statement follows:...
