China unveils first tribunal dedicated to handling data resources-related cases

( May 19, 2022, 08:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China unveiled a tribunal dedicated to handling data resources-related cases yesterday at the local court in Ouhai district, Wenzhou city in eastern Zhejiang Province, making it the first of its kind in the country. The tribunal will have jurisdiction over civil lawsuits that include infringement of personal information and privacy; criminal cases involving stealing and destruction of data and dereliction of duty on data oversight; and intellectual property cases relating to data-rights disputes and unfair online competition. It will also adjudicate administrative cases such as data-related administrative penalties.
