Japan's education ministry releases provisional guidelines on the use of generative AI in schools

( July 4, 2023, 09:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, or MEXT, released provisional guidelines for teachers and school officials on the use of generative artificial intelligence in elementary and secondary school settings that focus on text-based generative AI. Japan's education ministry said in the guidelines that while AI technology carries educational benefits, there are concerns about privacy and personal data, and intellectual property rights, as well as a concern that without guidance, students may accept AI responses as fact.
