US asks Mexico to review workers' rights at Panasonic facility in third use of USMCA Rapid Response, USTR says

( May 18, 2022, 21:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US has asked Mexico to review whether workers are being denied the rights of free association and collective bargaining at the Panasonic Automotive Systems de Mexico facility in Reynosa, State of Tamaulipas, according to US Trade Representative Katherine Tai. This request is the third time that the US has requested that Mexico review freedom of association and collective bargaining rights issues under the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and all three requests have been in the automotive sector, the USTR office said.
