Facebook head calls for more Internet regulation

( March 31, 2019, 05:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook's chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has called for government regulation of harmful content, election integrity, privacy and data portability. He said regulation could establish what harmful material should be banned on web platforms and oblige companies to create systems to keep such content to a minimum. Zuckerberg added that new privacy laws around the world, including in the US, should follow the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which doesn't require companies to store data locally and holds them accountable by imposing sanctions. Data privacy rules should moreover answer questions such as "when information can be used to serve the public interest and how it should apply to new technologies such as artificial intelligence," Zuckerberg said.Statement follows....
