EU scientists call for ‘detoxification’ of debate on sustainability of woody biomass

The study, which was announced in an EU strategy paper on biodiversity last year, finds that the governance of bioenergy sustainability is characterized by “uncertainty of consequences, diverging interests, conflicting knowledge claims and high stakes.” The EU scientists defined this as a “wicked problem” and called for a “detoxification” of the debate surrounding it.Statement follows.
