​Wieland-Werke loses action against block of Aurubis deal, EU General Court says

( May 18, 2022, 09:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Wieland-Werke has lost its legal action against the European Commission's block of the planned acquisition of assets of fellow copper-products maker Aurubis, the EU General Court has said. Wieland wanted to acquire the flat-rolled copper-products business of Aurubis and its holding in Schwermetall Halbzeugwerk. The commission prohibited the deal saying it had serious concerns the merger would reduce competition and increase prices for rolled copper products used by European manufacturers.
