Belgian privacy watchdog loses ‘cookies’ case against Facebook, plans action next year

( June 30, 2016, 13:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Brussels Court of Appeal has dismissed arguments by Belgium’s data-protection authority against Facebook, because the watchdog doesn’t have jurisdiction over the social network, the national Privacy Commission has said. Facebook had appealed a court order stemming from a challenge by the regulator — under an expedited procedure — related to Facebook’s use of “cookies” to track Internet users. The Privacy Commission said it would launch a legal action in 2017 against the company, following its normal procedures.Full statement follows in French....
