Binding EU greenhouse-gas intensity reduction, renewable targets sought by gas industry

( September 14, 2020, 10:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU gas industry, represented by Eurogas and the European Biogas Association, today called on policymakers to introduce a bloc-wide binding target to reduce the greenhouse-gas intensity of the industry by 20 percent by 2030. They also called for an 11 percent target for the deployment of renewable gases for the next decade. The regulatory call comes in a bid to display the sector’s commitment to the EU-driven clean-energy transition, the associations said in a statement, as the bloc aims for climate neutrality by 2050.
