Permitting for EU renewables projects can be sped up, Commission says

The EU executive also proposed an amendment to the Renewable Energy Directive to "recognize renewable energy as an overriding public interest," allowing permits to be granted more quickly. The commission aims to ramp up the bloc's renewable energy output to speed up its phase-out of Russian fossil fuel imports by 2027 under its REPowerEU crisis plan. The recommendation is attached. ...
