Vietnam publishes draft decree on personal data protection

( February 17, 2021, 08:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has published a draft decree on personal data protection, which would cover any local or foreign entity processing the data of Vietnamese residents. The decree outlines the rights of citizens over the processing of their personal data, as well as the requirements to transfer this data across borders. It also sets out fines ranging from 50 million to 100 million dong ($4,350) for violations, and up to 5 percent of a company's total turnover in Vietnam for repeat offenses.
